Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) is a joint venture between Saigon Newport Corporation and three foreign partners: MOL shipping line from Japan, Wan Hai Lines from Taiwan, and Hanjin shipping line from South Korea (now known as Hanjin Logistics Group). The joint venture was granted an investment certificate by the Vietnamese Government in September 2009, with a total investment capital of 100 million USD (equivalent to 2,000 billion VND).
Officially commencing operations in January 2011, TCIT has been striving to provide customers with international-standard container port services. Strategically located at the deep-water port area near the Thi Vai – Cai Mep river junction, just 18 nautical miles from the Vung Tau pilot station, TCIT serves as a highly convenient transshipment hub for cargo between Vietnam and global markets — especially the country's key import-export partners such as the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The channel depth is -14 meters; the berth depth reaches -16.8 meters; and the turning basin is 500 meters wide — capable of accommodating ultra-large vessels of up to 160,000 DWT (equivalent to 14,000 TEUs).
